About
I’m Samaya Sayana-Manchanda, a 16-year-old Indian-American from Los Angeles with a strong passion for photography. Over the past three years, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, which has deepened my commitment to using photography as a tool for storytelling. This past summer, I experienced firsthand the value of professional photography during a large family reunion. Although the cost for a photographer was significant, my family was able to afford it, and the resulting images brought immense joy to every member of our extended family. It made me realize that not everyone has access to such meaningful services. Inspired by that experience and motivated by my parents’ belief in using privilege to serve others, I created PhotosForChanges. Through this nonprofit, we provide free portrait and documentary photography to underserved communities by partnering with other organizations, ensuring that everyone can preserve their memories and share their stories with dignity.
